DontTrackMe — Privacy Policy
Last updated: [DATE OF PUBLICATION]
DontTrackMe is a browser extension that stops emails from knowing when you open them and cleans links that track your clicks, in Gmail. It is built so that your email never leaves your browser.
Who we are. DontTrackMe is operated by [OWNER NAME], [COUNTRY] ("we"). Contact: [CONTACT EMAIL].
1. What stays on your device
The extension reads the emails you open in Gmail, and your inbox list, only inside your browser. It uses them to find tracking images and tracked links, and to block or clean them. It never sends email content, subjects, senders, recipients or attachments to us or to anyone else.
The extension stores the following only in your browser (storage.local), and never sends it anywhere:
- your settings and your list of trusted senders;
- statistics per Gmail account: how many emails were analysed and tracked, which tracking companies were seen, and the names of the senders that tracked you;
- the date you installed the extension (for the 7-day trial).
Uninstalling the extension deletes all of this.
2. What is sent to our license server
Our license server (api.donttrackme.site, hosted on Cloudflare) receives only the following:
| Data | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| A random installation ID, generated when you install the extension. It is not linked to your identity, device or email. | When you buy, activate, renew or release a license | To link a purchase to this browser and enforce the limit of 3 browsers per license |
| Your license key | When you activate, renew or release a license, or open your subscription page | To check that the license is valid |
| Your browser's name (for example "Chrome"), without version or operating system | When you activate a license | So you can recognise your browsers in Settings |
| Days since installation and your plan (trial, free or pro) | Only when you uninstall the extension, through the uninstall page address | To measure, in aggregate, how the trial works |
The extension makes no other network requests. There are no analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no third-party scripts.
3. Payments (Paddle)
Purchases are processed by Paddle.com, our merchant of record. Paddle collects your name, email address, billing country and payment details, and handles invoices, taxes, refunds and your subscription portal. Paddle's processing is governed by its own privacy policy: https://www.paddle.com/legal/privacy. We pass your random installation ID to Paddle so that the purchase can be activated in your browser.
From Paddle, our server stores:
- the license key;
- the plan, status and expiry date;
- Paddle's customer, subscription and order identifiers;
- the order and invoice numbers;
- a one-way hash of your email address. We do not store the address itself. The hash only lets you recover your key with your order number and email.
4. How long we keep it
- Browsers activated on a license: until you release them.
- Purchase links waiting for activation: 24 hours.
- License records: for as long as the license exists, and afterwards as long as needed for accounting and fraud prevention.
- Server request logs (Cloudflare): short-lived, kept only to operate and protect the service.
5. Your rights
You can ask us to access, correct or delete the data we hold about your license. Write to [CONTACT EMAIL] with your license key or order number. If you are in the EU/EEA or the UK, you also have the right to object, to restrict processing, to data portability, and to complain to your data protection authority. Our legal basis is the performance of our contract with you (your license) and our legitimate interest in preventing abuse.
6. Children
DontTrackMe is not directed to children under 16.
7. Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the extension.
